Transmission
Ambassadors of a particular repertoire and playing techniques, the soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain work regularly with major artists and composers of our time. Their mission of transmitting this knowledge, both to young performers and to young composers, is particularly close to their hearts.

In order to encourage young talents, the Ensemble intercontemporain works in close ties with the Conservatoire de Paris, in particular within the new course “Artist Diploma – creation interpretation”, a selective course open to around fifteen instrumentalists since September 2022 for two years. Masterclasses, workshops and technical and musical accompaniment by the soloists of the EIC will allow students forming the Ensemble NEXT to interpret the creations of their classmates from the composition class, under the direction of a young conductor of the Ensemble intercontemporain.

Académie ManiFeste

A major meeting place for creation, the Académie ManiFeste of IRCAM’s festival welcomes and trains many young composers, performers and listeners to contemporary music, in an exceptional artistic and technological environment. A composition workshop allows young creators to work on their creations with EIC soloists. They also accompany members of the Ensemble Ulysse, formed each year by young European musicians aged 18 to 30, to perform a European repertoire. The sessions give rise to a final concert at the Centre Pompidou and in the new projection space of IRCAM.

Academy in Cremona

Our partnership with the Stauffer Center in Cremona began in the 2021/2022 season and has evolved ever since. Each year, two to four musicians from the Ensemble give one full week of masterclasses around the contemporary repertoire for strings to future professionals. The week ends with a restitution concert. In spring 2025, the Ensemble and the Stauffer Center will collaborate with composers to offer new forms of masterclasses.
