Nous r\u00e9\u00e9ditons pour l’occasion un guide d’\u00e9coute audio analysant une \u0153uvre qui\u00a0 synth\u00e9tise le r\u00f4le que le compositeur britannique attribue \u00e0 la musique : \u00ab le propos de la musique est \u00e0 mes yeux de r\u00e9v\u00e9ler la nature de la souffrance et de la gu\u00e9rison. C’est la grande question de l’existence. \u00bb<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\nDeath of Light\/Light of Death<\/em> \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crite d’apr\u00e8s la \u00ab Crucifixion \u00bb figurant dans le Retable d\u2019Issenheim de Gr\u00fcnewald. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 command\u00e9e par le Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Unterlinden de Colmar et l\u2019Ensemble intercontemporain pour le concert annuel du Vendredi Saint et cr\u00e9\u00e9e le vendredi 10 avril 1998 par les solistes de l\u2019Ensemble intercontemporain devant le Retable de Gr\u00fcnewald au Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Unterlinden. L\u2019\u0153uvre comprend 5 moments ou mouvements :<\/span><\/p>\n

1. J\u00e9sus crucifi\u00e9<\/span>
\nLe corps sur la croix portant les horribles cicatrices d\u2019une terrible torture physique.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Marie Madeleine<\/span>
\nAgenouill\u00e9e, pench\u00e9e en arri\u00e8re pour regarder follement, passionn\u00e9ment J\u00e9sus, les mains implorantes.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Marie, m\u00e8re de J\u00e9sus<\/span>
\nP\u00e2le, \u00e9vanouie, presque morte, \u00e9puis\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Jean l\u2019ap\u00f4tre<\/span>
\nTenant le corps inanim\u00e9 de Marie, pleurant d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Jean-Baptiste<\/span>
\nPar contraste, compl\u00e8tement impassible, solennel, voyant un autre monde, tandis que de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la peinture, il d\u00e9signe son sujet, J\u00e9sus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Les cinq personnages de la toile de Gr\u00fcnewald sont d\u00e9crits, tour \u00e0 tour, par la musique. On ressent v\u00e9ritablement dans cette peinture qu\u2019une catastrophe s\u2019est produite, ce qui lui donne un attrait particulier pour les sensibilit\u00e9s de notre temps. Peut-\u00eatre aucune crucifixion n’a-t-elle jamais sembl\u00e9 aussi d\u00e9vastatrice, la Lumi\u00e8re a m\u00eame disparu. Cependant, du c\u00f4t\u00e9 oppos\u00e9 \u00e0 la croix, Jean-Baptiste, un personnage sorti des morts, appara\u00eet au cort\u00e8ge fun\u00e8bre endeuill\u00e9. Il montre que, malgr\u00e9 les apparences, les \u00e9vangiles seront \u00e9crits \u2013 il les tient dans sa main \u2013 et d\u00e9signe ainsi la mort de J\u00e9sus comme un message d\u2019espoir. Dans la mort elle-m\u00eame, la signification ultime peut \u00eatre proph\u00e9tiquement trouv\u00e9e par ceux qui ont des yeux pour voir \u2013 un message pour toutes les religions, toutes les croyances et non-croyances.<\/span><\/p>\n
