Laquelle nous entrouvre pour l\u2019occasion son studio de composition \u00e0 Berlin\u2026<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Rebecca, vos titres sont bien souvent de simples mots (en anglais), \u00e9tablissant comme un parall\u00e8le entre champ s\u00e9mantique et travail de composition. Qu\u2019est-ce qui vient en premier\u00a0? Avez-vous d\u2019abord l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019un concept autour duquel vous engagez la composition ou, au contraire, le titre vous vient-il au cours du travail\u00a0?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">La plupart du temps, le mot\/titre vient au cours du travail. Et souvent m\u00eame apr\u00e8s l\u2019ach\u00e8vement de la pi\u00e8ce. Il arrive cependant, tr\u00e8s rarement, qu\u2019il soit pr\u00e9sent avant de commencer. C\u2019est par exemple le cas avec la pi\u00e8ce sur laquelle je travaille en ce moment\u00a0: c\u2019est une pi\u00e8ce pour soprano et \u00e9lectronique et, d\u00e8s mes premi\u00e8res exp\u00e9riences autour de ce dispositif, le titre \u00ab\u00a0<em>The Mouth<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb s\u2019est impos\u00e9. Et c\u2019est un si bon titre\u00a0! Au point que je suis tent\u00e9e d\u2019intituler ainsi toutes mes pi\u00e8ces dor\u00e9navant\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Cela \u00e9tant dit, il faut parfois replonger ces mots\/titres dans un contexte plus vaste\u00a0: il m\u2019arrive d\u2019\u00e9crire des pi\u00e8ces dont les titres semblent non seulement connect\u00e9s mais \u00e9tablir entre elles comme une conversation. J\u2019ai ainsi le sentiment que <em>Scar<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0cicatrice\u00a0\u00bb), que l\u2019EIC interpr\u00e8tera le 27 novembre, s\u2019inscrit dans la continuation de <em>Skin<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0peau\u00a0\u00bb)\u00a0\u2014 une pi\u00e8ce qui, en 2016, m\u2019a ouvert de nouveaux horizons d\u2019expression. Comme son titre le sugg\u00e8re, le sujet de <em>Skin<\/em> \u00e9tait ce qui se trouve imm\u00e9diatement sous la surface. J\u2019ai compos\u00e9 entretemps, en 2017, une pi\u00e8ce intitul\u00e9e <em>Nether<\/em> (\u00ab\u00a0plus bas\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0en-dessous\u00a0\u00bb), qui parle de ce qui est refoul\u00e9, sous la surface. Je m\u2019int\u00e9resse beaucoup \u00e0 la dichotomie int\u00e9rieur\/ext\u00e9rieur\u00a0: tout ce qui se passe autour de la peau, au-dessus et en-dessous, ce qui la transperce ou la traverse par porosit\u00e9. Cette tension autour de l\u2019interface int\u00e9rieur\/ext\u00e9rieur me fascine et <em>Scar<\/em> poursuit l\u2019exploration de ce registre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf7685.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf7685.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf7685-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf7685-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf7685-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">R\u00e9p\u00e9tition de <em>Scar<\/em> \u00e0 la Philharmonie de Paris <\/span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Vous dites que <em>Scar <\/em>est dans la continuation de <em>Skin\u00a0<\/em>: les id\u00e9es musicales de l\u2019une sont-elles en germe dans l\u2019autre\u00a0?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Non. Le mat\u00e9riau musical est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent et<em> Scar <\/em>s\u2019\u00e9carte donc nettement de <em>Skin<\/em> \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard. La source principale du mat\u00e9riau de <em>Scar<\/em> est un geste extr\u00eamement virtuose du duo de pianos. Le point de d\u00e9part \u00e0 la composition a en effet \u00e9t\u00e9 de cr\u00e9er de vastes s\u00e9ries g\u00e9n\u00e9ratives d\u2019attaques et de r\u00e9sonances, initi\u00e9es justement par le duo de pianos. Le r\u00f4le du reste de l\u2019ensemble est de mettre l\u2019accent, de d\u00e9velopper et d\u2019affiner ces attaques, tout en donnant aux r\u00e9sonances une forme de vitalit\u00e9 organique int\u00e9rieure. \u00c0 chacun des deux pianos s\u2019adjoint bient\u00f4t d\u2019autres instruments (l\u2019accord\u00e9on pour l\u2019un, la guitare \u00e9lectrique pour l\u2019autre, de part et d\u2019autre de la sc\u00e8ne,\u00a0et ainsi de suite), pour se lancer dans une forme de dialogue. \u00c0 mesure que l\u2019on avance, ces r\u00e9sonances commencent \u00e0 s\u2019\u00e9manciper et \u00e0 s\u2019autonomiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-18002\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf6182-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf6182-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf6182-768x516.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf6182-1024x689.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.ensembleintercontemporain.com\/content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/dscf6182.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Quelques mois se sont \u00e9coul\u00e9s depuis la cr\u00e9ation de la pi\u00e8ce et mon \u00e9coute de <em>Scar<\/em> est donc plus objective aujourd\u2019hui. Je peux ainsi dire que c\u2019est une pi\u00e8ce d\u2019une grande densit\u00e9, au sens o\u00f9 elle explore plus de niveaux de densit\u00e9 qu\u2019aucune de mes pi\u00e8ces d\u2019ensemble ant\u00e9rieures, ce qui m\u2019a permis d\u2019explorer des structures harmoniques bien plus complexes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Vous disposez \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent de bien trop d\u2019informations de ma part\u00a0!
